Logo Analysis
1.) Starbucks Coffee
The Starbucks logo change from very detailed to simplistic. The most drastic change is the removal of the brand name. This is sending a very clear and confident message and it only relied on the brand mark to tell the story.
" When a brand reaches a point where their identity is no longer determined by the visuals of the brand name, but of a prominent logo mark, the brand has evolved to a state that is almost untouchable."
- Simple choice of colors and limited detail make it a successful logo
- The logo now looks more vibrant and more dynamic
2.) Blu-ray
The curved design represents a spinning disc and the use of the blue color shows its a blu ray disc.
I feel like it is a successful logo that can accurately represent the product.
- Target audience are anyone looking to upgrade from dvd players to blu-ray.
- Simple modern design
- incorporates speed
- If I were to redesign the logo I would make the color have a shine to it (highlights and lowlights) to show speed and accuracy.
A simplified and more playful version of the old bird with a different haircut and upturned beak, it is based heavily on perfect circles. The Twitter bird symbolizes freedom and happiness.
- The target audience are social networkers
- Simple design with one use of color creates a successful logo
- The logo of the bird works perfectly with the name and the concept ("A little bird told me")
- Its rememberable and fun.
4.) XBOX
The glowing green X is an instantly recognizable symbol of the Xbox. Now the green X is embedded in a silver ball with green and gray Xbox 360 text underneath.
- This is a successful logo because its simplistic, modern, and unique.
- The colors are very futuristic, sleek, and very technology oriented.
- The 3D logo suggests to the audience its and animation or gaming company.
- The carved X can tell the audience that the logo is xbox with out words following it
5.) Sony
The Sony is certainly one of the world’s most popular and instantly recognizable logos.
The current version of the Sony logo comprises of a simple wordmark which was first introduced in 1959. According to some branding experts, it is meant to “communicate strength and simplicity”.
- The use black color in the Sony logo symbolizes perfection, elegance, integrity and the illustrious history of the brand.
- It is straight to the point so the audience would no what brand it is right away.
- If I were to recreate this logo I would make the font more modern and futuristic.
- Personally I think it needs a touch of color
